Calendar Project - December 2016

Hi Everyone

Ahhh, December is here - let the CRAZY TIMES begin.

It's time for our next Calendar page - December and one of my favourite stamps this year is Penny Black's Scarlet Majesty (40-494).  In our class in October, we coloured it with Distress Markers and this time we used Copic Markers.

On this page, I started with a base of Bazzill Ivy, Glow, Pepper and then Colour Copy 200gsm paper.  I stamped two poinsettia's with a Memento ink pad and then coloured with Copic Markers YG61, YG63, YG67, G29, R05, YR68, R27, R39 and RG69.

I blended around the edges with Peeled Paint Distress Ink Pad and added 'A Penny Saved' Prills in the centre of the flowers, adhering with Glossy Accents.

I added 'Merry Christmas' from Peny Black's set 51-058 Joyous Wishes which I cut out of Antique Gold card 3 times and adhered on top of each other.

Lastly I added 'December' from the My Favorite Things 'Months of the Year' die set which I cut out of the Pepper card.

Thanks for joining our Calendar Projects this year and we look forward to starting again in January soon-ish.

Happy Stamping

Calendar Project: November 2016

Hi Everyone

Happy 1st November AND Melbourne Cup Day!!!

Today's calendar page was inspired by the Spring Racing Carnival and I've been dying to play with this Power Poppy stamp set 'Countryside Bouquet Delux'.

I started with a base card of Bazzill Typhoon and layered up with Saltino and Jacaranda before adding a white layer of Laser Colour Copy paper in 200gsm.

I stamped 2 Countryside Bouquets facing each other using a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad.  I blended around the edge of the white paper with a Peeled Paint Distress Ink Pad and then using a B00 Copicc Marker, flicked a halo of blue around the stamped images.  This just gave them a bit of a shadow so they didn't just look stuck on the page.

Now for the Copic Markers (yes, there is a lot).  I always start by colouring the leaves first, so I coloured all of the leaves, ferns and stems with YG63 and YG67.  The Bluebells were coloured with B02, B05 and B28.  I coloured the yellow Gerberas with Y11, Y15, Y17 and YR68 and the centre of the flowers with E49 and E29.  The Poppy's were coloured with YR61, R39, R27 and lastly I traced around the edges of each petal with a Y17, just to highlight them a little.

If you like this stamp set, pick it up instore or via our website - http://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/power-poppy/power-poppy-country-bouquet-delux/

Hoping you have a great day and that your horse wins at the Melbourne Cup.

Happy Stamping

Calendar Project - October 2016

Hi Everyone

Yes, I'm having quite the Altenew 'thing' at the moment and it's continued for my October calendar page.... ta-daaaaaa!!!!

I've started with a base layer of Bazzill Aloe Vera and layered up with Guacamole and Lily White.

On the Lily White card, I stamped the flowers from the Best Mom stamp set using Versamark and embossed with WOW Gold Pearl embossing powder.  I traced the flowers with Copic Marker YG11 and coloured the leaves with G28, YG63 and YG67.

From the Beautiful Day stamp set, I stamped 3 of the outline images onto Colour Copy 200gsm card and embossed them with the Gold Pearl embossing powder.

It's now time to colour all of the flowers and I've used Copic Markers YR000, YR02, YR61, YR68 and E18 for the centre of the flowers.

Happy October

PS. Check back tomorrow to see a card using the same ideas.

Calendar Project - August 2016

Hi Everyone

Well the second half of the year is well underway and it's now time for August and also the month when the Queensland Cancer Council hosts Daffodil Day.  This year it is on Friday 26th August and our calendar page is to mark that occasion.

Starting with layers of Ivy and Sunbeam, I added Colour LaserJet paper (200gsm) and stamped the Daffodil from the Darkroom Door set - Garden Greetings (DDRS016) with an Archival Pale Ochre ink pad.

I don't normally use an Archival ink pad when colouring with Copics, but as we wouldn't be seeing the lines, if the ink bled a little, we wouldn't see it.  I stamped 4 flowers onto my white card and then 4 onto scrap white card which I will cut out later.

I coloured the stems with Copic Marker YG67 and then the Daffodil flowers with Copic Markers Y11, Y15, Y17, Y38 and YR68.  After cutting out the 4 images from my scrap card, I adhered it them to my base card.

Lastly, time to add the word 'August' which I cut 3 times from Ivy card using my My Favorite Things 'Months of the Year' Dienamics set and adhered them on top of each other.

Calendar Project - July

Hi Everyone

July has arrived and so has the cold snap here in Brisbane - brrrrrrrr.

My calendar theme this month is being wrapped up in a quilt and the Artistic Impressions Quilt Set (4544) came to mind.

I had layers of Bazzill Admiral, Fawn, Pinecone and then Jacaranda.  On the Jararanda card, I stamped the Darkroom Door Measuring Tape (DDBS018) background stamp and then distressed all of the edges with a Tonic Distresser.

I cut the quilt from the My Favorite Things Quilt die from Bazzill Fawn, Creampuff and Graphic 45's paper and then adhered them onto another piece of Creampuff.  Next I blended a little Distress Ink Pad - Brushed Corduroy around the edges.

It's time to stamp the Artistic Impressions ladies and coloured them with Copic Markers E00, E11, R20, R81, E41, E47, E49, E31, E35, Y21, B93, B95, B97 and B99.

Hope you like our July calendar.

Calendar Project - June 2016

Hi Everyone

Greetings from our lovely Brisbane Winter that starts today.

My calendar project continues this month with Crazy Cats from the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous range.

I started with a base of Bazzill Typhoon and added layers of Sage and Creampuff.

The background was stenciled with Stampers Anonymous stencil THS002 Bubble with Distress Ink Pads Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon.  I then blended around the edge with Brushed Corduroy.

The letters 'JUNE' are from Sizzix set 660210 which I cut from Typhoon card.

I stamped the Crazy Cats (CMS251) on Watercolour card and blended Antique Linen onto their faces and bellies and then Walnut Stain, Brushed Corduroy or Hickory Smoke onto their bodies and the tops of their heads.

The bird, hat and bow tie are from the Mini Bird Crazy and Things set (CMS250) which I coloured with Mermaid Lagoon, Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron.

Before adhering the images to my page, I rubbed Distress Glaze over the top so they don't fade.

Calendar Project - April 2016

Hi Everyone

Happy April Fools!!! I hope that some fun tricks will be played today.

Here's my calendar for April using the Penny Black clear set - Blooming Tags (30-228).

I have started with a based of Bazzill Bluebell and layered up with Parakeet and lastly Fairy Dust.

For each tag, I blended around the edges with Distress Ink Pad - Mustard Seed and adhered them to my page.

('m sure that it doesn't surprise many of you when I say that the tags have 2 more layers each.)

I then stamped each tag 2 more time on Laser Paper (200gsm) and on one set coloured the leaves with Copic Markers YG63 and YG67.  On the last set of stamped images, I coloured the flowers with Copic Markers B02, V12 and V15.

After cutting out each of the images, I adhered them to the tags and topped each tag with a small white ribbon.

The word April was cut our of Bazzill Pansy card using the My Favorite Things die set - Months of the Year and adhered to my calendar piece.

Calendar Project - February 2016

Hi Everyone

Phew, didn't January fly by!!!

My February Calendar made using a base of Bazzill Pomegranate, then layered up with Petunia and then HP Colour Laser Jet paper in a 200gsm.

I started by stamping the Darkroom Door French Script background stamp with Distress Ink Pad - Wild Honey and blended a little Wild Honey around the edges.  This softened the contrast between the white HP paper and the Petunia card.

I've then stamped the Stamping Bella 'Flower Garden' stamp using a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and coloured the flowers with Copic Markers R22, R27, R39, G24 and G28.

The Flower Garden stamp is really versatile as you can colour the flowers all different colours and as the image isn't too wide, there is plenty of room to add a greeting on a card or gift tag.

The Heart Fence is from Magnolia's Doo-Hickey range and was cut from Bazzill Pinecone card.

The calendar page is mounted on Petunia card and the word 'February' was cut from the My Favorite Things Dienamics die set.

As our classes start again this month, we're looking forward to seeing you all then.

Calendar Project - January 2016

Hi Everyone

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  We hope 2016 is going to be a fantastic year for you all.

Today is a rather exciting day for us, we're off to the US for a holiday (aka Disneyland Trip) and CHA.  We fly out at 11am, so I'm using this quick opportunity to show you my January calendar.

The base card is Bazzill White followed by Beeswax and then Beetle Black.  On the Beetle Black card, I stamped the 2 sizes of Fireworks from the new Darkroom Door set DDRS158 Celebration using a Versamark ink pad and embossed it with Gold and silver embossing powder.

These fireworks are the best I've ever seen as they don't become blobs when you emboss them.  One of the best things about Darkroom Doors stamps is the quality of the stamps and this is a great example.

I've added some Champagne glasses, again from the same Darkroom Door set, which I embossed with Gold embossing powder on Ice Gold card and added some Copic Markers YG23 and Y21 to fill the glasses.

The numbers 2016 are from My Favorite Things Dienamics Numbers set.

I'm looking forward to sharing my calendar pages this year, hope you enjoy them.

Happy Stamping
