Side Order - Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends

I think everyone is over therapy from us having them make the Side-Order/Karen Burniston card a couple of years ago and thought I'd share this card idea with you.

This card starts with a base of Bazzill Whirlpool, Creampuff, Fawn and lastly Pinecone card.

I die cut the shapes from Tim Holtz / Sizzix - Birthday Side-Order die set (662703) using colours of Bazzill including - Pinecone, Creampuff, Whirlpool, Petunia, Sunbeam and Pear card - let's just say, there was double-sided tape on the card before I started cutting.

Before adhering the layers together, I blended a little Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy around the edges and then started layering up the Cakes and Birthday Hats.  I have to admit, it was fun until I got to the pesky little dots, but they do finish the cakes off nicely.

I die cut two layers of Penny Black's ...Birthday die (51-338) using Whirlpool and Creampuff, edged with Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy and adhered this to the card using mounting tape.

If you like these dies, you'll find them instore or on our website - https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/sizzix-dies-dies/ OR https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/penny-black-dies/

Hope you have a Crafty Day.

Cupcake Best Wishes

Hi Crafty Friends

We hope you are all well and looking after each other - at a social distance of course.

Here's a card to brighten your day using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Cupcake die set (LF1978)

This card starts with a base of Bazzill Berrylicious, followed by Pinecone, Whirlpool and Lily White.

On the Lily White card, I die cut Lawn Fawn's Quilted Backdrop to create the lace background.

From a piece of Whilpool card, I die cut a Scallop Frame using Nestabilities dies and also die cut an Oval Nestabilities that I used as a Doily under the cupcakes.

I also die cut 'Best Wishes' from Tim Holtz/Sizzix - Celebration Words (660223) and added this to the base of the card.

Ok, now onto the Cupcakes.  I die cut these from Bazzill Berrylicious, Walnut and Creampuff card.  I then added shading to the Cupcakes using Copic Markers - E31, E35, E41, E43, R22, R27 and adhered the layers together and then added them to the centre of the card using mounting tape.

If you like these dies, you can find them instore or on our website - https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/lawn-fawn/

Hoping you have a great day.

Whimsical Wildflowers

Hi Crafty Friends

Just the name 'Whimsical Wildflowers' as a stamp set got me interested.

This is a stamp set by Gina K Designs and includes beautiful flowers, leaves and sentiments.  Seriously calling to me and my Copics.

Here I have created two cards using the same stamp from the Whimsical Wildflowers set.

Both cards have a base of Bazzill Pear followed by either Flamingo or Heidi and finished with Creampuff.

The flowers were all stamped with Memento's Rich Cocoa ink pad.  I find using a brown ink pad on delicate images can sometimes help make it look a little more real and not as big of a contrast that black does.

The first card has sentiments from Penny Black's Special Thoughts stamp set - 30-338 and is coloured with Copic Markers - E15, E18, Y21, YG61, YG63, YG67, R20, R22 and R27.  I then fussy-cut around the images and adhered them to the card with mounting tape.

The second card has sentiments from Gina K Design's - Watercolour Flowers and was coloured with Copic Markers - E15, E18, Y21, YG61, YG63, YG67, V22, V25, V28.  The labels in the middle are from Sizzix (660060).  These flowers were also fussy-cut and then adhered to the card using mounting tape.

If you are interested in this stamp set, check them out instore or on our website - https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/gina-k-designs/

Hoping you have a Whimsical day

New Darkroom Door stamps have just arrived

Hi Crafty Friends

Darkroom Door's latest release of stamps and stencils have just arrived and thanks to our class at Creativation, made this card over the weekend.

This card starts with a base of Bazzill Creampuff and has layers of Kraft card and Colour Copy paper.

For the blue/purple background, I smudged Tim Holtz's Distress Oxide Ink Pads - Faded Jeans and Dusty Concord over a Craft Sheet, spritz it with water and smudged the Colour Copy paper through it.  When the paper was dry, I stamped Darkroom Door's new - Number Medley stamp set over it using an Archival Watering Can ink pad

From some extra Colour Copy paper, I die cut two tags from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tag Set, distressed the edges, blended Brushed Corduroy and stamped Darkroom Door's French Script in an Archival Peeled Paint ink pad.  I also added a little reinforcement to the top of the tag, blended with Brushed Corduroy.

I then stamped the two flowers from Darkroom Door's new set - Warm Wishes, using a Memento Toffee Crush ink pad and coloured the with Copic Markers - BV08, BV13, BV00, YG62, YG63 and YG67.

With my colouring now complete, it was time to assemble the card.

I had an extra 'Lots of Labels' stamped image from my Creativation class and not wanting it to go to waste, blended Archival Peeled Paint over it and stamped 'Sending Love' from the Warm Wishes stamp set.

For this label, I really wanted to thread some twine through it, but didn't want to punch a hole, so I die cut two extra tags from Tim Holtz's set from black card and adhered them either size.  I was then able to thread the Hemptique twine through the label around the back and secure with a double knot on the right.

To see Darkroom Door's full release, you'll find them instore or on our website - https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/darkroom-door-stamps-by-designer/

Be You

Hi Everyone

I've recently fallen in love with Altenew's Peony Spray (I know, what have I been missing out on).

This card starts with a base of Bazzill Creampuff, followed by Doodlebug papers and then another layer of Creampuff.

On this last piece of Creampuff, I blended Altenew Watercolours over the background and watered them down a little.  I also added Doodlebug papers which I had die cut with My Favourite Things Fishtail dies.

Across the bottom, I added 'Be You' from Sizzix / Tim Holtz set 661801 Pondering Words.

Now to colour the Peony - I stamped the Peony on Canson Watercolour Card 300gsm card and halo cut this.  I also stamped a second image and would use the Flower head only.

I continued to use Altenew's Watercolour Palette, using colours Forest Glades and Evergreen for the leaves and stem and Autumn Blaze and Warm Sunshine for the Peony Flower.

After the images had finished drying, I adhered the second Flower head to the rest of the image and then adhered the whole image to the card with glue.  I tucked the stem just under 'Be You'

Hope you have a great week

Just For You

Hi Everyone

Altenew's Just For You stamp set features large Roses and the words 'Just For You'.  It's a great set as the flowers are easy to line-up and the words 'Just For You' can be used for so many different occasions (except I didn't use them on this card - LOL - but keep watching the blog).

This card starts with a base of Bazzill Guacamole, followed by Ivy and Lily White card.  On the Lily White card, I covered the back with double-sided tape and die cut Spellbinders die set - Emmeline Treillage S5-311.  I then attached all of the pieces to the Ivy card.  (I did plan to design this card for a class, but thought we might not see anyone the following month)

I then die cut the Open Scallop Border from My Favourite Things from Fawn card and the word 'Celebrate' from Tim Holtz / Sizzix set 661807 - Sentiment Words from Guacamole card and backed it with Ivy card,

Onto the flowers.  I stamped the leaves with Altenew ink pad set - Green Fields and the flowers with the Rose Petals ink pad set.  I then die cut them with the matching die set (or you can hand cut, they are not hard images to cut).

The leaves are adhered to the card using glue and the flowers are glued together and then adhered to the card with mounting tape.

You will find this stamp set in-store or online - https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/altenew/altenew-just-for-you-stamp-set/

The Sizzix set is also available online - https://michellescardsandstamps.com.au/products-page/sizzix-dies-dies/tim-holtz-sizzix-661807-sentiment-words/

Valentine's Gifts

Hi Everyone

As a kid, I loved Cadbury Furry Friends as a treat and thought these would make a great Valentine gift for at our classes this month.

They were quick and easy to make, so thought I would share them on our blog incase you would like to make some before Valentines day.

I had some Doodlebug Valentines papers (anything red, white or pink will work fine, but paper will work better then cardboard) left over from last year and wrapped them around the Furry Friends bars.

I then cut some Bazzill Lily White into 1cm lengths and wrapped then long ways around the bar.  This will prevent the paper from sliding off.

I wanted to decorate the tops of the Valentine bars and cut heart shapes using Tim Holtz's Sizzix die set - Heartfelt (660233) using Bazzill Lily White, Petunia, Pomegranate and Gold Glitter card.  I thin layered them up with the glitter hearts on top.

Hoping you have a great day.

Welcome to the World

Hi Everyone

In our March class, we made an Owl card and wanted to share this variation on our card with this baby card.

This is from the Sizzix Owl Fold-a-long die set 661138 and can be so much fun.

For this baby card, I started with a base of Bazzill Romance card which was cut to 15x30cm and folded in half.  Line the large die up with the fold line and cut the three owls in one step.

I then cut the additional shapes from Bazzill Fawn, Petunia, Pinecone, Cantaloupe, Beetle Black and Lily White.

On all of the Owl's I stencilled the Tim Holtz Argyle stencil using a Brushed Corduroy or Victorian Velvet ink pad.  I also cut an Oval from Lily White card and stamp the words from Darkroom Door's stamp set - Baby Vol 1 (DDRS037) using an Archival Jet Black ink pad.

Time to start assembling the card.  I leave the card flat until all of the shapes have been adhered to the card.  Adhere the Fawn body to the centre Owl and the words on top.  Add the Pinecone foreheads and then the beaks which have had Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink Pad blended around the edges.

For the wings, after cutting them, I traced another set onto Fawn card, so that they had a layer inside them.  I blended around the edge with Victorian Velvet and adhered the 6 wings to the card.

The last step is to add the eyes.  Just a tip, point the highlight in the eyes towards the eyelashes so that you don't end up with googly eyes later on.

Once the glue has dried, fold the card and score the edges with a bone scorer or something similar.

Hope you love our Owl cards as much as we do.

Robot Blueprint

Hi Everyone

Boy themed stamps can be hard to find, but this set of Stampers Anonymous stamps are perfect.

With 4 stamps, you'll be able to make some great cards.

Here's one from me, using the robot from the lower right corner of the set, I stamped him on Canson Watercolour card and coloured around the edges with Distress Ink Pad - Brushed Corduroy.

I coloured the robot and at little around the edges with Distress Markers - Pumice Stone, Fired Brick, Wild Honey and Faded Jeans.

My card base is Bazzill Typhoon and I layered with Creampuff, Pomegranate and Nightmist.  On the Nightmist card, I stamped the Darkroom Doors Cogs Background stamp (DDBS044).

After assembling the card, I added words from the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Handwritten Celebrate die set which I had cut from Pomegranate card.

Mission Complete

By The Way, we're packing this weekend for our Melbourne trip, if there is something specific you are after, please let us know and we'll make sure we have it set aside for you.

Easter Gifts

Hi Everyone

I hope everyone who attended our classes this month enjoyed their Easter gifts and I thought I would show you all my Easter tags and with Easter just around the corner, it's perfect timing.

Starting with a base of My Favorite Things tag cut from Bazzill Guacamole card and then with the My Favorite Things stitched tag from Creampuff.

I then used the Tim Holtz / Sizzix Mini Mover and Shaper die - Mini Bunny & Bow (657486) and cut the bunny from the centre of the Creampuff card and then adhered a bunny cut from Fawn in its place.  The bow is from the Sizzix set and is cut from matching card.

I added the words 'Happy Easter' from the Darkroom Door stamp set (DDRS035) All Occasion and flowers cut from a Spellbinders die.

I purchased some gift bags from Party Store and attached the tag to the front of the bag with a peg.

Savannah's Birthday Card

Today my beautiful niece Tahlia was attending a 5th birthday party for her friend Savannah.

I made this card using with Sweet Magnolia, Decorative Swirls from Sizzix and the Savannah letters are from Cuttlebug's Alphabet set 'Olivia'.

I'm told Savannah has dark brown hair, so I coloured her hair with E35 and E37.  Her skin was coloured with E00, E11 and R20.  I coloured her dress, pini and shoes with Y11, Y15, RV10, RV34, YG06, YG67.  Of course, Crystal Stickles was added to accent Sweet Tilda's shoes and pini.

I hope Savannah had a great birthday (and loved the card).
